moiety

分子の一部分を moiety という。

because it is identified as a part of other molecules as well.

Typically, the term is used to describe the larger and characteristic parts of

Wikipedia にはベンジルアセテイトの例が図入りでわかりやすく説明されている。

エステル部分は “ester functional group”

アセチル基の部分は、”acetyl functional group”

そして、ベンジルオキシ基の部分は "benzyloxy moiety" としている。

例えば、「スチレン-ブタジエンブロック共重合体のブタジエン部分」は

"the butadiene moieties of styrene-butadiene block copolymers"　

とすればいいのかな？
